Booking and changing your practical driving test is easily done online. Follow the link on the left.

The driving test will last about 40 minutes. Before you start you will do an eyesight check then be asked two of the safety questions; copies of the safety questions can be downloaded here. You will be taken on various roads with varying traffic conditions and different speed limits: maybe some town driving, maybe country roads around Newton Longville or maybe up the A5. You will be asked to pull up about 5 times, these will be: on the level; on a hill and close behind a parked car; these are to check your ability to move off safely in different situations. You'll then be pulled up to do the two manoeuvres. One in three tests get an emergency stop.

One of the biggest mistakes candidates make is to think they must drive in a special way! If you do this you are likely to make a cascade of errors. The best way to approach the test is simply to drive as if the examiner is not there, try to be relaxed and drive as you would in your lesson. The examiner does not want a special performance; you don't earn "points" for driving in a special way, you only collect faults for making errors. If you make an error, get over it. At no time should you think you've failed.

If you are booking a practical test using my car remember to provide my ADI number - 307006. This prevents more than one person booking the same slot with the same car.

If you want to check the test routes you can be taken on, the link on the left shows all of the routes from the Bletchley Test Centre and these can be downloaded. If you want to check pass rates for some of the test centres in this area use the links on the left.
