This is my syllabus that I use to teach you to drive.

1-9 generally get done in that order, i.e. you first master left turns before right turns and after that it isn't a strict order; 10 gets done whilst doing 1-9. I do things according to your ability and aptitude; manoeuvres I drop in where appropriate.

  1. Cockpit drill; controls
  2. Moving Off and Stopping safely
  3. Changing Gear 1st to 2nd & Steering
  4. Braking Practice - progressive & accurate, at various speeds
  5. Left turns Major to Minor
  6. Right turns Major to Minor
  7. Gear Changing 2nd - 3rd / 3rd - 2nd and 3rd - 1st
  8. Emerging at T-Junctions to turn Left
  9. Uphill / Downhill / Angled starts
  10. Emerging T-Junctions to turn Right
  11. Passing stationary cars/ Adequate Clearance to both sides / Meet other traffic
  12. Adequate clearance to traffic in front & behind
  13. Advanced Mirror Use, why we do it, when we do it, what we look for etc.
  14. Roundabouts - in Milton Keynes this has to be done early on in your training;
  15. also the roundabouts in MK allows more gear changing practice as there are many on national speed limit roads: 3rd - 4th; 4th - 5th; 5th - 3rd etc.

  17. Clutch Control & angled starts on level and uphill
  18. Emergency Stop
  19. Hazard Drill
  20. Crossing the path of oncoming
  21. Giving signals inc. single track roads & use of horn
  22. Traffic Signals inc. level crossings; traffic lights & junction boxes
  23. Anticipation & Reading the road ahead
  24. Country Driving - more anticipation & taking bends at speed

  27. Crossroads - approaching and emerging
  28. Traffic Queues: "Tarmac & Tyres"

  30. Dual Carriageways
